potty tricks

Poor little Ava has become bored with everyday ordinary methods of using the potty.

2 days ago...I am washing lunch dishes while Ava and Noah play upstairs.

Ava: Mommy! Come up here quick!
Me: What's the matter Ava?
Ava: I just need you really quick!
(I go up the stairs to find Ava in the bathroom, standing in a puddle of pee. She's holding a very long and wet strand of toilet paper in one hand, and a soaked sock in the other.)
Me: What happened? Did you have an accident? You didn't get to the potty in time?
Ava: Mm, I just..don't know..uhh, I was trying...mmm, I wanted to catch..I don't know.
Me: Were you trying to catch your potty with the toilet paper?
Ava: Uh, yeah...
(To catch you up, she was bored with conventional method of using the potty and this was her creative way of trying a different approach.)

I'm pretty surprised but rolling with it. Thinking this was just a one time thing was my mistake.

Yesterday...Kids are upstairs for room time before naps. I head up to tuck them in and then back downstairs to work. About 5 min later I hear Ava's door open.

Me: Ava, what are you doing?
(no answer, so I head upstairs to investigate)
Me: Ava?
Ava: Yes mommy?
Me: Where are you?
Ava: In the bathroom.
(I open the bathroom door to find her straddling the toilet, backwards, she's facing the back of the toilet.)
Me: What are you doing?
Ava: I just wanted to get on the potty this way.

...I wonder what tomorrow holds. How many different ways can you go potty?

More fun to follow, I'm sure! I wonder what things Noah will come up with to keep you hopping?

  2. Oh my word, I SO did that last one when I was about 6. And of course it was the one time my dad checked on me, so I got caught and in trouble. Dang! I remember it seeming like fun at the time. :)
