gone fishing

All in all, Noah has handled his sister being away in Arizona quite well.  Not sure mommy has, but I'll manage.  He has been looking forward to a whole day of fishing with daddy!  I'm amazed that this guy, who normally has to be reminded several times a day to be still or get self-control, can fish for an entire day.  He loves it.  Thankfully, he caught five fish and was pretty excited to eat them for dinner!  The video flips a couple seconds in, and if you listen very carefully you can hear his little giggle of joy in catching his first fish (unfortunately, he ended up kicking it back into the lake).

the dedicated fisherman

It's Monday again which means I have to work BUT the kids get a much needed day with Daddy!  The last few days have been unseasonably warm here in Seattle.  To beat some of the heat each kid came up with something they'd like to do....Ava wanted to sit in Gramma's air-conditioned home and knit (are you sure you're MY daughter?) and Noah wanted to go to the fishing hole near their house with Daddy.  It was one of those mornings today and that included not being able to locate my phone.  Despite all the technology we have (I actually have the app to locate my phone!) it was a lost cause.  About 10 minutes after I left the app started working and Brian found my phone...it was in the bed among all the covers.  Clearly my phone had the right idea, I just didn't get the message, stay in bed today!  Anyway, that's a ramble just to say I was starting to feel very disconnected from everyone without my phone when Brian emailed me this picture.

Nothing can distract a good fisherman...not even a dancing duck.

gone fishing

The kids love fishing with Daddy.  I'm at work today but I got the following text....

"Noah is at one end of the pond and Ava and I [Brian] are at the other end talking...he drops his pole, runs over here and loudly whispers.  'Seriously guys, your voices are scaring the fish.'"
He then immediately turned and ran back to his pole.

My son.  He takes his fishing VERY serious.  Enough of the chatty chatty.

catch of the day

Happy Fall!

The weather is amazing.  School work is done.  Let's go fishing!

Brian took the kids to Tam O'Shanter for some fishing.  Both kids caught their first fish!  He said they are spoiled because the ponds are stocked.  I say, that's my kind of fishing.

Please note...my daughter...in shorts...in Seattle....on the first day of OCTOBER!

I'm told this was the first take of Ava with her 19" trout.  There was no way she was going to touch it!

gone fishing

Daddy didn't waste any time gettin Noah to a fishing hole. He was beyond excited to put that new fishing pole to work. He's pretty good at it too! Ava had to use one of daddy's but I have to say, she was amazing. She cast like a pro! Sadly, they did not catch anything at the Riverbend little pond (shocker). Love these guys, thanks for the awesome day daddy!

See what I mean? The girl's got it! The way she reels it in...it's a wonder why the fish didn't jump right on that bait.
