chicken foot
My dear sweet friend Shira graciously gifted me one lovely chicken foot along with fresh herbs from her garden. "What on earth do you do with a chickens' foot," you ask? Make bone broth. I promised myself there are lines I will not cross. I respect Shira and her gusto for healthy living, but there are some things I simply will. not. do. Then she gave me a foot. It sat there in my fridge for three days...staring at me...daring me to cook it. In a word (Shira style)....BAM!

blackberries
Blackberries! Blackberries!
I have picked about 48 cups of blackberries this week. My arms show it, my legs show it, my fingernails show it....mercy it's a lot of work but I am hoping it will make some good jam. I've also attempted my first crusted cobbler (more like a pie crust), and then a more traditional crumb topping cobbler. Kids really liked the first one, we'll see how they feel about the second in the morning. Looks and smells good anyway. I'm not a huge fan of baked fruit but I did try a bite with whip cream (LOTS of whip cream) and it was pretty tasty.
We went from this......(well technically I had a bin full but this picture is much cuter plus she picked and decorated these herself)
to this!
Less pretty, but I'm sure just as good.
