My children loooooove theme nights. When I told them we had enough hats and they could just pick one of those, add a little flare to it......this happened.
This week Ava had one more task to complete her second year T & T book, a diorama. There were three Bible biographies to choose from, and she chose Paul & Silas in prison. I taped the box together for her, but the rest was all done by Ava. A couple of times she asked for my input but the execution of each part was completely her doing. I was impressed!
Each year I cross my fingers that Brian will let the kids buy stock cars and just decorate them any way they please. Nope. Not this year. It was to be a Harry Potter kind of year. Ava chose the Basilisk snake:
Noah chose the Nimbus 2000 broom:
They turned out pretty great! Ava won 1st place for design, and Noah won 2nd place for design. They were very excited.
This year they had some of the T & T girls recite verses during the races. Ava not only volunteered, she nailed it. Proud mama here.
Ava felt like quite the celebrity when she opened the Awana brochure for next fall in the church bulletin. She is pictured in the T & T section with her buddy Dasha.
Seriously. My kids love them. Ava especially gets very into each and every one of the themes. Dress like a mess...and she did. I have to say this might have been their best effort all year.
Another year, another Grand Prix. I was going to skip with one but Brian came home with the blocks of wood and said the magic words..."what kind of car do you guys want?" He leaves the door wide open. Ava - Olaf Noah - Arrow I think they turned out amazing.
Both Noah and Ava's cars performed pretty well! They each get to race in four heats, then the top sixteen race for the trophy. Guess who made the top 16?! Can you tell by his face?
Both kids won trophies for design. Noah - 3rd in the Sparkies, and Ava - 1st in the T & T.
