medal of honor

I'm taking a detour from my normal entry topics (KIDS). This is something worth remembering.

When Seth was sent to Italy I thought, hey, this Army thing isn't half bad. Italy? Train to Venice for the weekend? Do they accept homemakers who work from home? Then, he was deployed to Afghanistan. His first tour. It was so much harder to imagine him there vs. sipping cappuccino in a Tuscan villa. (okay, he wasn't really doing that either) I could picture him anywhere but there.

It's hard to imagine what these men and women experience. I am grateful to each an every one of them for their service.

Brother in arms. There is a bond between these men that is unlike anything most of us get to experience. They have to trust that their brother, standing at their side, will protect them. To put their own lives in harms way, to serve and protect.

This week our nation honored just such a soldier from the 173rd Airborne Brigade. Seth was in the 173rd during his first tour in Afghanistan, and served with Sal Guinta. Seth was assigned the Bradley Brigade and sent to Iraq for his second tour.

Thank you to all the men and women who are currently and have served. God bless you.
