fool me once...

...shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on Noah!

A few months ago Noah was in yet another "no nap" phase. After he's been in his room singing and talking for about an hour and a half it was finally quiet. I let him sleep for about 40 minutes then had to wake him up. We had dinner plans with friends and I needed to get him ready. I had left just enough time to get him up, dressed, potty, and out the door. Perfect. Peeking over the crib, he looks so content and happy. His covers are pulled up to to his chin, framing his sweet little face, and those cute blond curls. I gently pull back the covers, and before I could stop myself.......**gasp** N - O - A - H!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor guy was jolted out of his sweet slumber and began to cry. I gathered myself, and assessed the situation. Somehow he had reached over and grabbed a tub of Vaseline that was sitting on top of his dresser. The tub was resting, open and half empty, between his blankets. He had quite a good time of coating his hair, sheets, crib bumper, and blankets. I did not budget time for this kind of clean up! Somehow we made it and were only about 5 minutes late...but I have at least four new gray hairs.

Present day...Noah is still in a "no nap" phase. Same situation, he'd been playing for quite some time then finally fell asleep. It was approaching 4:30 so I needed to wake him up. As I looked in his crib all I see is that sweet face. Those curls, the way he was hugging his beloved little stuffed monkey...sounding familiar? I should have known, but he looks so innocent! As I gently wake him he stands up all shakey, and I notice there is a lot of wetness on the sheet. "Hmmmm, buddy that's a pretty wet sheet, let's get you out of those clothes." (he's still wearing a pull-up at nap time) As I'm getting his wet pants off it sort of registers with me the tag out on the pants. Weird, but moving on. The socks are soaked so we get those off....as I reach for the pull-up something isn't right. Click. It all makes sense now. At some point Noah had taken off the pants and pull-up, turned them inside out, and put them back on. The outside of the pull-up is meant to keep the moisture in. Well, in case any of you were wondering, I can confirm that if you turn one inside out the opposite will occur. The pull-up was completely dry, gold star Huggies, but the pants, socks, blankets, and sheets were soaked. When asked, Noah had no recollection of how this happened.
