the (renton) hills are alive...

..with the sound of my children. It's an understatement to say these guys are "into" the Sound of Music. I'm trying to remember the last day where I didn't hear some version of Edelweiss. Many days I have called my son by what I thought was his name, only to find out that he is to be called "The Captain" or Friedrich that day. Pardon me.

This all started on the trip Ava and I took to Phoenix last Fall. She watched most of the movie on the airplane and became very interested. Soon after that Grandma and Grandpa took a trip to Hawaii and brought each of them a ukulele. Well that was all it took, the show was now complete, they each had a guitar!

Nana got on board and whipped up some pretty great dress ups, yeah? Ava wanted a white dress with blue satin sash....sing it with me...."girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes." Even better, the dress is made of a friends old curtains! (remember the drapes? stop pretending you don't, you love this movie too.) Noah wanted to be the Captain, but recently informed me that he will require some white gloves to complete the outfit.

This afternoon Daddy decided to surprise the family with early dinner and a movie night! This will be our first family movie night, he even threw in popcorn, but we were met with some unexpected reviews.

Brian: Hey Noah, how about we have an early dinner and then sit down with popcorn and watch Toy Story!!!
Noah: (pause)....and then after that we can watch the Sound of Music, cause I the Captain.
---let's try this with the other child who wasn't in the room---
Brian: Ava, how about we have an early dinner, and then sit down with popcorn and watch Toy Story!!!
Ava: ...and what else?

TOUGH crowd.

Ava a very happy Liesl, and Noah a very stoical Captain.
They learned this just from watching the movie (only about 3 times) because, yeah, like I could teach that. If you think I am capable then you have never seen me dance. Hope this entertains, and you're welcome for the songs that will now be stuck in your head for the next 24 hours. Enjoy!
