memories from tori

While I'm at work Tori is great at passing along little moments throughout the day from home. Sometimes they are sad, sometimes funny, sometimes....

This email summarizes what happened yesterday:

There were just too many good quotes to text, and now that their all in quiet time I thought I'd just write them all down.

School: For math we were using pattern blocks, and after the kiddos had done the shapes i'd told them to be creative and make their own shapes. Ava finished one and says proudly, "look tori! welcome to the amazon pyramids of Asia!"

Not long after, she finished a new and bigger shape comb and asks noah if he likes it. His response, "No." I told him that wasn't a very kind answer. He was silent for a moment then says to Ava, "i don't think it's cool.... i think that its beautiful." sweet boy.

Lunch: Lunch with ava, noah and gwenna is always the longest most tedious part of the day, but there are always good quotes that keep me smiling. Today, totally out of the blue, ava says, "If mom gets pregnant again and it's a sister for me, i will name her Madeline, and if its a boy; Edmond."

After lunch, i asked Ava to help me clear the table so that we could go outside to enjoy the sunshine. She was more than eager to do so! As she's clearing the table with extreme cheer, she has an idea, "Tori! i am going to give you a special break! i am going to was ALL the dishes for you!" Noah thinks this is a fine idea and gobbles down the rest of his food so he can get in on this generous action! They proceed to clean the kitchen very cheerfully; Ava washing one dish at a time then shouting, "NOAH! i need a dryer!!!" Noah, usually slightly distracted responds, "oh, yes. right." and dries the plate, bringing each one to me for inspection.

Throughout the process they shout, even though i'm in the room, " This is for you tori! take a break!!" between these joyful exclamations, Ava says, "Tori, i love you. and do you know why i'm washing these dishes? just because i love you so much." sweet girl.

At one point i felt the need to step in and save something from nearly falling from the counter... apparently this was not appreciated as ava barks, "Hey you get outta here! go relax!"
