auntie skipper is here

We were very excited that Jessica (aka Skipper, auntie Skipper or auntie Jessica) came up to Tacoma with her sister yesterday. While sister was in a teaching workshop/conference we picked Jess up and drove to Gig Harbor. Well, we sort of drove/wandered the streets of Tacoma first, and then made our way to the freeway. It was really nice to just walk the streets near the water, let the kids explore, and have some lunch.

One of our mini-adventures was on the public dock. There were two boys with fishing poles - interject Noah saying "I should have brought my McQueen fishing pole mom!" - who had caught a crab. The kids were cautious but very interested. They stayed a safe distance from the pincers. Their mom was very sweet and pointed out a "crab kingdom" in the water. It was kind of amazing to see all the crabs down there. We also saw little fish, a couple large starfish, and jellyfish. All in all....way better than the aquarium and best of all it didn't cost a thing! (unless you count my mini-heart-attack each time the kids leaned over to see what else they could find in the water...swimming lessons are coming).

On the dock:

Okay kids, look at mommy! Everybody sing...."here comes the sun." They tried but couldn't keep their eyes open.

My son looks entirely too BIG! I was convinced Noah was going to get wet. This was the one close call we had. See the little stone path they are on? I called them to come back and Ava went past him, using him to steady herself, and nearly pushed him in.

Come back soon Skipper!!
