white noise

5:24 am - (screaming and hysterical yelling coming from Ava's room) Jumping out of bed at this hour is never something I voluntarily do.  Ever.  Rush into her room to find her in the corner, facing the wall, waving her arms about while yelling.  As I scoop her up I can hear Noah crying.  Brian's on it.

5:25 am - What in the world happened.  My mind is starting to catch up with my body.  Okay.  I'm in Ava's room, she's crying....what's the cause.  I look around.  Nightlight is off.  Perfect.  I could be asleep right now if the nightlight....(me trying to turn it back on).  Nope.  Great, light bulb must be out.  Hmmm, what else is missing?

5:26 am - Nearly lucid.  Why is it quiet in here?  Noise machine is off.  Almost there...come on brain.  Power is out (there you go! good work).

5:27 am - All aboard.  Everyone climbs in our bed.  There's a reason we don't co-sleep, not that you can call what happened between now and 7:30 sleeping.  So many knees.  So many elbows.

Time to get up.  The first sign of frost on our neighbors roof.  Brrrrr.  No power, no heat, no lights (makeup in the dark...).  Happy Monday.
