sweet conversations

Tuesday's are usually very long for our little family.  The day is started with getting dressed, making beds, breakfast, packing a lunch for the kids, and if (and this part is a big IF) enough time is leftover we have our pledges and journal time.  Then its off to church to serve in the nursery and classroom time for the kids.  After classes we typically head home, although sometimes we have to squeeze in an errand, and finish up the lunches.  This is followed by a short quiet time, and then school for Ava.  By the time school is done it's time to make dinner, eat dinner, clean up dinner, and get the kids ready for bed.

Yesterday, however, I had an "extra" paycheck (extra because work missed a check back in December) to deposit so I decided to take the kids out for dinner.  (two Tuesday's per month Brian has work meetings that start at 7 pm so he isn't home for dinner).  Usually the conversation is fun, silly, and full of "Ava/Noah, please sit still and eat your dinner".  This time was a little different.  The kids don't usually talk much about their lessons from Sunday School or class on Tuesday's, but tonight they were both quite chatty.  Their lesson was about when Satan tried to tempt Jesus.  They were especially interested in the third, when Satan took Jesus to a high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms below.  Their version was a little different, but the conversation ended up about heaven and where Jesus is now.

Ava: Will there be lots of seats, like in church? [in heaven]  And a red rug that's long and goes up the stairs...and goes like this (motions with her hands) up the stairs, and then at the top there's a big chair?  And maybe there is one of those....those....um, what is that guy called who...(she mimics taking a photo with the remote clicker)
Me: A photographer?
Ava: Photographer!  Yeah...will there be one of those to take your picture with Jesus?

This was just one of the highlights from the conversation.  I love that kids think of little details that I so often gloss over.  Streets of gold, new heaven and earth (you should have seen Ava's face), and so on.  They want details!  They want to know what the streets will look like, and what will we eat?  And Noah said he can't wait to get there so he can walk up to Noah (from Noah's Ark) and say "Hi Noah, I'm Noah!"  He cracked himself rrrright up.

When Seth was about 4, he asked me if God had an oven in Heaven. He needed to know how he was going to cooked the feast that was prepared for him.
