ava's corner

I thought it would be fun to have a little segment called "Ava's Corner." This will show up periodically when there has been a particularly eventful week, full of many Ava-isms. Hope you enjoy these as much as I do.

Awana - She started Awana at church this week and they came home with an instruction booklet for their memorization. Her first lesson is to learn a first verse and the Cubbie motto.

A little preface here, all summer she has been listening to her Disney cd that has Hakuna Matata on it. Light bulb not on yet? Remember the part where Timone and Pumba say "Hakuna Matata, that's our motto." Simba replies, "What's a motto?" Timone, "Nothin, what's the motta with you?" Hilarious.

Me: Ava, the Cubbie motto is "Jesus Loves Me." Can you tell me the Cubbie motto?
Ava: Nothin, what's a matta with you?
Me: (in my head) Great, my kid will be the smart alec of the class.

Singing in the Car - Ava loves to break into song just about anywhere, at anytime, for any reason. The other day she was humming something which turned into...

Ava: Amazing grace, how sweet the sound...(long pause), Puget Sound?
Me: Puget Sound?
Ava: yes. Amazing grace, how sweet the Puget Sound.

Dinner Conversation - This one is from tonight...
Ava: Hey mommy?
Me: Yes.
Ava: Um, I think I need my own tv.
Me: Excuse me?
Ava: I think I need my own pink tv.
Me: (in my head) Are you kidding me? Not only is she a little young to be asking for this, but she already has the color picked out.
Me: Um, I don't think so honey.
Ava: Yeah, maybe later though.
