We had some nasty colds that lasted for about four weeks...we were good for about a week....then the flu. Poor Ava got the flu and was throwing up for half the day. It should be said that she is a very good sick patient, a trooper. It took her nearly five days to regain her appetite.
Added to the illness, Noah has been going through somewhat of a sleep crisis. Each night he wakes up anywhere from two to six times. "I'm awaaaaaake." Fantastic. During the day he sings and talks to his friends monkey and bunny rather than napping. Yes, you read this correctly. He's getting about 6 hours at night and no nap during the day. How is he still standing? Seriously. This has been going on for over a month now. Next phase please.
Funny Moments: There are so many of them and oh how I wish I could remember them all. Since I can't here are a few of the more recent ones...
Noah: Mom, you are cracking my socks off. (his own twist on "cracking me up" and "knocking my socks off")
If we are home, no matter what they are playing at, both kids will stop if they hear the opening tune to Edelweiss (or any Sound of Music song for that matter). They run upstairs to get their "kitars" (guitars), which are Hawaiian ukulele's, and then Noah is the Captain and Ava is Liesl. A few nights ago right before bath time the kids put on quite the concert for us. Naked kids, ukelele's, and songs from Psalty the singing songbook. Hmmmm, do I take pictures for future ransom, or don't I?
Noah: Hhhh Hhhh Uhhh Huhu Hhhh, Mom, huhu nnn huhu huhu (it is so hard not to smile when he does this, he knows what he wants to say but those words just get stuck!)
Noah: (at dinner) I need to eat my vegetables...huhu huhu....be-cause I gonna grow big and strong upstairs.
Ava: Mom, how did that baby get out of Rachel's tummy without leaving a big hole? (uh....pass. next question.)
Adventure: Our adventure came when we were scheduled to head to Vancouver to visit a friend but ended up detouring to Discovery Bay! I'm not usually that spontaneous but the kids were packed and we were already on the road. Why not? Thanks to the assist from Rosie and Auntie Lorna we got a condo at Discovery Bay. The kids had a blast swimming, sleeping in big kid beds in their very own room, and more swimming! At breakfast we had a visitor right outside our room. On our way home we went to the beach but it was a little chilly for the kids. We took the ferry to Edmonds and then headed home through Seattle. By the time we got home both kids were sound asleep.

Playtime: I love it when they play together.

School time: My sweet girl knows her rainbow colors....and her alphabet! Noah had to join in with his masterpiece.

We take our reading VERY seriously.

Tea Time!
