We had a great day with our friend Miss Cheri at the Woodland Park Zoo yesterday. Although, according to my children, ANY day with Miss Cheri is a great day! I must say it was one of the better experiences I've had at the zoo. We stopped to see the hippo's and got there just as a zookeeper was feeding her a snack. Her name was Lily and we got to see her swim out and chomp her pieces of lettuce. The orangutans were entertaining, but we saw something extra fun. One of them was using a piece of straw to floss!!!! (not kidding) The leopard was so beautiful, and enjoyed doing some laps to entertain the kids. They played a little hide and seek. We decided to make a quick dash to see the gorillas before leaving. They're always one of my favorites and were so fun to watch napping, snacking on celery, even charging each other. There's one place where you can get close to the glass and the kids were right there (of course). All of the sudden one of the gorillas decided she didn't like the looks of the other one and decided to charge. It scared Ava to death since she came charging right at where the kids were. It was pretty funny, after she slapped the other gorilla and went back to her snacking...the other gorilla took piles of straw and rubbed them on its head. She repeated this until there was a nice little nest all around her. It was finally time to get going, and just as we were wrapping up, my son decided to give us a little excitement. He fell and unfortunately it was right on his face. Thankfully we had Miss Cheri and Ava there who ran all the way to the food court and back with ice for Mr. Noah. During all of this the gorilla that had built herself a nice little fort was watching Noah. She seemed very worried.
Having Daddy's watch on made it all better... How does it look now Mommy? I think I need some more ice...and Vaseline.
