war of the zzzzzz's

Noah has this habit of staying up way past his bedtime, in his room, but not sleeping.  He sings, he talks, he makes more trips to the potty than a pregnant woman, he tells me he just can't go to sleep without me cause he loves me too much, and so on.  Anything but sleep.  In the past this has happened about every 6 to 8 weeks for about four days.  We're currently in our third week.

Last night Noah was still up at 10:30 PM.  Things finally got quiet around 10:50 PM so I went to check on him.  He was finally asleep but.....those aren't his jammies.  I looked in the closet and his jammies were all put away.  Since it has been in the mid-80's his room was pretty warm, and the pants he chose were lined, I decided he would be too hot and chose to put him in some shorts.  He sort of woke up when I was changing him and was pretty groggy.  I asked him "why are in your clothes buddy?"  His response?  "Cause this way I can be ready to go in the morning time."  Sure enough, he tried to convince me he was already dressed this morning and didn't need to put on any other clothes.

I think I lost this battle.  How could I argue with that?
